The Purge: Anarchy Purgatory

 

The Purge franchise's second offering takes a complete 180 from the first film's feel and focus. In most circumstances that would be a good thing...in this case not so much. 

 

Gone is the feeling that these are average normal day people given license to "release" their "beast" and "purge" their darkest homicidal desires.  Which was the briliance of the first film starring Ethan Hawke. Instead the purge is just another government controlled comercial enterprise bent on reducing the population of undesireables. 

 

While the movie was well shot and nail biting to watch the overall tone and pollitcal statements shoved into our faces during this film turned Anarchy into Purgatory for this viewer.
